General information and description of a multi-gun match

In a “multi-gun” match, a rifle, pistol and shotgun are used in various combinations on a given stage. The course of fire (COF) for a stage typically requires that the competitor use two or more weapons and transitions from one (hot) weapon to another to complete the stage (e.g., from a rifle to a pistol). A given stage may involve engaging targets from contact distance to 500 yards. Most stages in a multi-gun match involve movement, weapon transitions and target engagement from multiple and, sometimes, awkward shooting positions (e.g., under a low port). In addition, most stages are time-limited (e.g., a maximum of 180 seconds to complete the course of fire).

If you’re interested by now, you will need the following to safely compete:

Some competitors use tactical vests or police/military-type duty rigs (drop leg / thigh rigs) to carry and secure their equipment and firearms. As long as the equipment used meets the (pistol) retention requirements as noted above it can be used.

PRECISION RIFLE TEAM EVENT

MATCH DESCRIPTION

This match will be a team event using precision rifles and secondary firearms as described below.

4 stages

Stage 1 will have all teams shooting from the 500 yard cover at m.o.a. and m.o.a + targets. Limited round count, 90 seconds max.

Time deductions for m.o.a. hits. Teams will have 10 minutes to identify targets, judge wind, etc. prior to going hot.

Teams may need binoculars or spotting scope to identify numbered "team" target.

All teams will fire at once.

Stage 4 will also involve the use of the "precision" rifle and semi at sub m.o.a. targets somewhere between 100 and 200 yards away supported by the Jeep. Semi team member will engage steel targets at the same time. After that, the "precision" rifle is abandoned and the team enters two bays to engage targets with pistols and carbine. This is the only stage where lead-core rifle ammo will be required and checked.

Stages 2 and 3 will be single-bay each, using pistol/carbine to engage paper and steel targets.

Approximate round counts will follow, but MORs will not require more than 20 rounds for the match.

Detailed stage descriptions and scoring will be given at shooter's meeting at 9:30

There will be no sighting in at the match - have all that squared away before you arrive.

Email me your slot request as well as any questions. It will be helpful to know in advance who the team members are.
