Cavalier Rifle and Pistol Club

 

2007 Conventional High Power Rifle Program

**Remember there is still one more 2006 match on Dec. 23**

Location:  Cavalier Rifle and Pistol Club,  located approximately 25 miles northwest of Richmond Virginia, in Hanover County off Route 610 on Boondock Lane next to the Louisa County Line.  (Directions at the end.)

 

2007 Match Schedule:  Monthly, 4th Saturday except July 28, August 25, November 24.

Starting Time:  Match begins at  9:00 am.  Try to be there by 8:30 am.

Range is closed on match day prior to the match.

 

Rules:   NRA rules and NRA classification will apply.

 

Course of fire:  100 yard reduced National Match course.

Targets and scoring sheets are supplied.

 

1. Offhand slow fire,  20 rounds in 20 minutes.

Target:   SR-1

 

2. Rapid Fire Sitting, 20 rounds in 2 stages, each

10 rounds in 60 seconds.

Target:   SR-1

 

3. Rapid Fire Prone, 20 rounds in 2 stages, each

10 rounds in 70 seconds.

Target:   SR-21

 

4. Slow Fire Prone, 20 rounds in 20 minutes.

Target:   MR-31

 

Awards:  Cash awards determined by the number of competitors.

 

Entry Fee:  $12.00 non-members, $10.00 Cavalier members.   No advanced entry is necessary, but we are limited to 35 participants that are not members of Cavalier Rifle and Pistol Club. Email will suffice for entry registration.  (Note: $4.50 of the fee is used to pay the NRA approved match charge.)  The maximum number of entrants from 1989 through 2006 was 26.

Supplemental Material:

 

Gear Required:

1. Rifle  -   Service Rifle or Match Rifle with iron sights, usually .308Win, 30/06, .223Rem.

Service Rifle (AR15/M16 service type,  M1A(M14),  M1, may be National Match)

Match Rifle (Ex: Rem. 40X, Spr. 1903, AR15 flattop, AR10B, Swedish Mauser, M1C).

Match rifles MUST be capable of 10 shot rapid fire string with 1 clip/magazine change.

Rifle should have a sling.

2. Ammo  -  Bring 100 to 110 rounds.

3.  At least 2 magazine or clips, 4 to 6 is best, must hold 5 or more rounds.

4. OBI  -  Open Bolt Indicator  (match director has extras).

5. Eye & Ear Protection.

6. Positive Attitude.

 

Gear Recommended:

7. Spotting Scope  -  25 to 30 power.

8. Shooting Mat  -  A piece of carpet will work.

9. Clip Board / Pen / Staple Gun / Staples

10. Buff pasters /  Black pasters  /  scoring plug.  (match director has some.)

 

NOTE:

NRA membership number should be brought if you are a NRA member.  Bring new number, it is all digits.  NRA Membership is NOT required to compete.  Competitors that are not Cavalier members are welcome to shoot in the match, however this does NOT allow them the use of Cavalier facilities other than participating in the match.

 

Directions:

Directions From I64:

Take exit 167,  take route 617 north, take 3rd left onto 617,  617 will merge with 611, bear right and continue on 617.  At stop sign  you will see a store(3 way stop), turn left onto 617.  617 dead ends at 610, turn left and follow 610 until you pass Hopeful Church.  Turn left on Boondock lane just before you get to the Louisa Co. line.

Directions From Ashland:

Take R54 to Montpelior (Route 33).  Turn right. go west on R33 for a short distance, turn left on 610.  Stay on 610 until you pass Hopeful Church.  Turn left onto Boondock Lane.

Directions From Harrisonburg:

Take R33 to 664. Turn right onto 664.  It is called Hopeful Church Road.

Follow 664 until you hit 610 at Hopeful Church.  Turn right onto 610 west, then left onto Boondock Lane.
